About this app

DocScan is an app designed for the scanning of historical documents in combination with the ScanTent.

It detects pages in the live preview and makes high quality scans. An automatic series mode takes an image once a page is turned when mounted to the ScanTent. It therefore enables you to scan books or documents quickly without interacting with your mobile.

Just installed to use with my ScanTent. The app is really easy to use and does exactly what it's supposed to. It could be more feature rich (eg. Dewarping for use on a cradle, able to split dual pages, able to export images, able to post process color correction.) Still, this is an incredible tool, and I'm so thankful they designed it. I would love to see a port to iOS as well.

Maybe a little warning must be made in advance: this is an app whose focus are the scanning of historical documents (manuscripts and old printed books) in order to be transcripted on Transkribus software. It's not an app like CamScanner which was made to modern documents and books. Sure, it can do what another scanning apps do (and sometimes even better), but it strength are its conection with Transkribus. Beyond that, this is a great applications for those of us who work in archives and need a handy tool that helps us to digitize documents accurately, and upload them to Transkribus servers in order to be transcripted. I think is exactly what we need, and I hope it improves with the time.
